Frequently Asked Questions
Booking & Rides
-
Submit a Ride Request through our website with your pup's destination, date, and ride details. We'll review the request and confirm availability before sending an invoice via email/text for your review and payment.
-
The earlier, the better! Advance booking gives us the best chance of accommodating your preferred pickup time. Last minute requests may be available through our Urgent Ride service.
-
Absolutely! Same day rides are accepted based on driver and route availability. If you need a ride ASAP, call or text our Urgent Ride Line rather than submitting the regular request form.
Rides requested within two hours of pick-up are subject to a $10 Urgent Ride fee.
-
Absolutely, that’s what we’re here for! We can handle check-in and check-out with your pup’s daycare, groomer, boarding facility or veterinary office so you don’t have to rearrange your day just to get them where they need to go.
Pet parents are responsible for making sure their pup meets the destination’s requirements before their ride, including any required vaccinations, records, appointments, or paperwork. If your pup is turned away because their vaccinations or other requirements are not up to date, we cannot guarantee that we’ll be able to arrange a same-day vaccination or alternate appointment.
For grooming and veterinary appointments, please remain available by phone. The facility may need to speak with you directly about services, treatment, pricing, concerns, or other decisions that only you can authorize.
-
Nope! You don’t need to be home for your pup to ride with Soul Dogz.
If you won’t be there, we’ll just need clear instructions for safely accessing your pup and returning them home. This may include a door or gate code, lockbox instructions, a spare key, or another pre-arranged access method.
Before the ride, we’ll confirm where your pup will be, how we should enter, and exactly where they should be safely returned after drop-off. Please make sure all access information is accurate and that your pup can be safely reached.
-
Once we've reviewed the request and confirmed availability, we'll send you an invoice through your preferred contact method (email/text). Your ride is officially booked once confirmed by Soul Dogz and payment is completed.
-
Nope! Once your pup has completed their Soul Dogz profile, use the Welcome Back form on the Book a Ride page when booking future rides. Just give us the new ride details and let us know if anything about your pup has changed.
Safe Rides, Happy Pups
-
Yes! Every new pup's first qualifying one way Soul Dogz ride is complimentary. This means we'll cover either the pickup or the return trip, you choose!
The first ride gives your pup a chance to meet us and for us to make sure Soul Dogz is a safe and happy fit for their transportation needs.
Want us to handle the ride back, too? No problem! The return trip can be booked at our regular one-way rate.
Complimentary first rides are limited to a single one-way ride per dog and do not apply to Urgent & After-Hours Ride requests.
-
Every new pup starts with a brief introduction at their pickup location before we hit the road. We'll spend about 5 minutes getting acquainted and making sure we're able to safely leash and guide your pup into the Soul Dogz van.
We'll also do a quick collar check to make sure it fits securely and can be safely removed if necessary in an emergency. Once everyone's comfortable and ready to roll, we'll get your pup settled into their Ride Cabin and head out!
-
Before your pup's first ride, we'll collect important information about their health, temperament, emergency contacts, veterinarian, and anything else we should know to transport them safely.
-
We get it, car rides can make some pups nervous! Being anxious or having the travel jitters does not automatically mean your dog can't ride with Soul Dogz. We'll do our best to help your pup feel safe and comfortable along the way.
If your dog's anxiety creates a safety concern, such as an increased flight risk or severe distress while riding in their Ride Cabin, we may determine that Soul Dogz isn't the right fit. Your pup's safety and well-being will always come first.
-
Tell us! Every pup is different, and knowing their triggers, preferences, and needs helps us determine the safest way to transport them. Certain behaviors or needs may require an individual ride or other accommodations.
Individual rides or special accommodations are subject to availability and may include an additional service fee. Any additional costs will always be discussed with you before your ride is confirmed.
-
Sometimes a pup lets us know they're just not ready to roll, and that's okay! If we're unable to safely load, secure, or transport your dog, we will not force them to continue the ride.
When it is safe for us to do so, we'll return your pup home or to the original pickup location and contact you right away. If we cannot safely return or manage your pup, the pet parent or designated emergency contact will be responsible for promptly coming to retrieve them.
Your pup's safety, our driver's safety, and the safety of everyone on board will always come first.
-
Yes, some Soul Dogz routes may include more than one pup. Dogs are transported using appropriate safety restraints and are managed based on temperament, size, and individual needs.
If you need a ride for more than one dog from the same household, be sure to let us know so in your Ride Request form.
-
No. Soul Dogz does not require dogs to be fully vaccinated to ride with us. We understand that some pups may be riding with us specifically to visit their veterinarian or receive vaccinations.
We clean and disinfect our Ride Cabins and transportation areas between riders; however, no shared pet environment can be guaranteed completely free from exposure to contagious illnesses.
Puppies, senior dogs, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated dogs, and dogs with underlying health concerns may be more vulnerable to illness. Pet parents are responsible for determining, in consultation with their veterinarian when appropriate, whether transportation with Soul Dogz is suitable for their pup.
-
Please let us know before pickup if your pup is experiencing symptoms of illness or has recently been diagnosed with a contagious condition. Because Soul Dogz transports multiple dogs, we may need to take additional precautions, arrange an individual ride, or decline/reschedule transportation when necessary to protect other pups.
If your dog needs transportation to a veterinarian because they are sick, tell us when requesting the ride so we can determine whether we can safely accommodate them.
Individual rides or special accommodations are subject to availability and may include an additional service fee. Any additional costs will always be discussed with you before your ride is confirmed.
-
We do our best to stay on schedule, but when you’re transporting pups around Tucson, sometimes the road has other plans!
Pickup and drop-off times are estimated and may shift due to traffic, weather, earlier stops, a pup needing a little extra time to safely load or unload, or other unexpected delays.
If we’re running behind or there’s a significant change to your pup’s scheduled time, we’ll keep you updated. We’ll never rush a pup just to stay on schedule, getting everyone where they need to go safely comes first.
Inside the Soul Dogz Van
-
Safety comes first. Every pup travels in their own Ride Cabin, sized appropriately based on their height and weight. Our Ride Cabins are designed to provide each dog with a secure, individual space while on the road.
Each Cabin is set up with comfortable bedding and a potty pad, and dogs are never permitted to roam freely inside the van while it is moving.
Siblings dogs may share a Cabin, if preferred by pet parent.
-
Our van was built with pups in mind. A dedicated rear A/C unit helps keep the passenger area comfortable, while a secure safety barrier keeps pups safely separated from the driver's area.
Each Ride Cabin is individually secured to a steel mounting system inside the van to help keep it stable while we're on the road. We also carry a steel loading ramp to provide safer, easier entry and exit, especially for larger pups, seniors, or dogs with limited mobility.
For unexpected situations, we keep dog emergency slings onboard to assist with safely moving a pup who may be injured or unable to walk on their own. In a medical emergency, we can provide a dog stretcher to assist with transporting a sick or injured dog to a veterinary.
We've added dash cameras for added safety and additional front lighting to improve visibility during fog, dust, and other low-visibility conditions.
-
We want the ride to feel just as good as the destination! Our passenger area has its own A/C system, individual Ride Cabins with comfortable bedding, and turf flooring to give the van a softer, more pup-friendly feel.
And, of course, every good road trip needs a soundtrack, expect soulful, groovy tunes selected to create a calm, easygoing environment while we roll. 🎶
-
Clean pups deserve a clean ride! We routinely clean and disinfect the Soul Dogz van, with special attention given to Ride Cabins, flooring, and other high-contact areas.
We use Rescue™ Disinfectant, a veterinary disinfectant commonly used in animal-care environments, to disinfect appropriate surfaces according to manufacturer instructions. We also use Spartan Kennel Odor Eliminator to help control odors and keep the van smelling fresh.
Ride Cabins and bedding are cleaned as needed between riders, and messes are addressed promptly so the next pup steps into a clean, comfortable space.
-
For safety, we generally keep Ride Cabins free of food, toys, and other loose items while the van is moving. However, you know your pup best! If a familiar comfort item helps them travel safely and calmly, let us know and we can consider accommodations on an individual basis.
-
Sorry humans, this ride is for the dogs! Soul Dogz does not transport pet parents or other human passengers. Our van and services are designed specifically for the safe transportation of pups.
Don’t worry, we’ll keep you updated along the way so you can feel good knowing your pup is in our care from pickup to drop-off
Pricing & Payment
-
Good rides shouldn’t break the bank. Every ride starts with a $10 base fee per dog, plus $2 per mile.
-
Each dog has a $10 base fee but dogs traveling together from the same household are only charged for mileage once. For example, a five-mile ride for two dogs would be $30 total.
-
Once we've reviewed your request and confirmed that we can accommodate your pup's ride, we'll send you an invoice. Payment is required to finalize your booking.
-
We make payment easy! Soul Dogz accepts all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. We also accept Apple Pay and PayPal.
-
We get it, life happens and plans change! If you need to cancel or reschedule your pup’s ride, give us a heads up as soon as you can so we can adjust our route.
We currently do not charge cancellation fees and hope to keep it that way. We simply ask that you be mindful of the time reserved for your pup. If cancellations become frequent, an additional fee may apply to future bookings.
Keep us in the loop, and we’ll do our best to work with you!
-
Plans change, work runs late, and sometimes your pup needs to get somewhere now. Urgent & After-Hours services may include emergency vet transportation and last minute pickups or drop-offs.
-
Yes, when a driver is available. Soul Dogz can transport your pup to an emergency or urgent care veterinary hospital when the unexpected happens.
Pet parents must remain available by phone throughout an emergency vet ride and while Soul Dogz is at the veterinary facility. The vet may need to speak with you directly regarding your pup’s care, treatment decisions, payment or other authorizations.
Soul Dogz provides transportation and pet care assistance only and cannot make veterinary treatment or medical decisions on your behalf. If we’re unable to reach you when your authorization is needed, our ability to remain at the facility or continue assisting may be limited.
-
Yes, when we're available! If you're stuck at work, running late, or something unexpected comes up, we may be able to stop by to check on your pup, provide fresh water, let them out for a potty break, feed them according to your instructions, and make sure everything looks okay.
-
No. Urgent requests are accepted based on driver availability, location, timing, and your pup's individual needs. We'll let you know as quickly as possible whether we're able to help.
-
Urgent rides requested within two hours of pickup are subject to an additional $10 fee.
Our standard ride hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Rides scheduled outside of these hours are subject to a $5 After-Hours fee.
If more than one scheduling fee applies, only the highest applicable fee will be charged.
-
